Dr. Spencer Young
There are many career paths we can pursue in our lives. But I have wanted to be an eye doc since I was in the fifth grade. My dream came true when I attend the Illinois College of Optometry and graduated in 1992 with my doctorate in optometry.

As an Optometric Physician, I diagnose and treat conditions of the human eye and visual system. We fit glasses, contact lenses, and manage the diseases of the eye such as diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataract. We also provide post-operative co-management care for cataract and laser eye surgery.

In addition to providing state the art care, one of my goals is to treat each patient as I would want to be treated myself. Each member of your family will be treated as if you were a member of our family. It is important to me and my staff that each patient understands completely the status of their ocular health and be knowledgeable about all possible options whether those options are surgical or optical. We take pride in fitting those patients in contact lenses that other doctors have told could not be fit.

Jackie Schuurman, Receptionist
I was born in Everett Washington and moved to Modesto California when I was two years old. After 20 years I moved back to Washington settling near Bellingham. I have been in the Bellingham area since and enjoy the true season changes and endless rain! During my free time I enjoy 4wheeling, bowling, shopping, and scrapbooking.

I have been a Front Desk Receptionist at Advanced Vision for two years. I enjoy my job very much and have a great sense of pride for eye health. Throughout the years at Advanced Vision I have grown as a person and gained alot of knowledge in the eye care industry. I enjoy learning about eye care and the importance it has on our lives as well as our health. I look forward to the opportunity to assist you with your eye care needs. Please call me to schedule your appointment.

Tina Wendling, Optometric Technician
Bellingham has been my home for 40 years, and there is no other place I would rather live. I graduated from Business School with a degree in Medical Assisting. I was given the opportunity to work with a group of Ophthalmologists where I became a certified assistant. After working for many years I decided to take a break and try other things. I am happy to find myself back to work with Dr. Young and everyone at Advanced Vision. Interaction with patients and helping them with their eye care is the best part of my job. In my spare time I love to do a variety of crafts and be with my family.

Heather Johnson-Billing Specialist

I recently moved to the Bellingham area from south of Detroit, MI. I am enjoying the beauty that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. It is taking some time to get used to the rain, but the lack of snow in the winter makes it easier to get used to. I enjoy hiking, spending time with my husband and friends. I look forward to adventuring around the area and getting to know the area better.

I have been in the eye care industry for over eight years. I enjoy paying attention to small details and ensuring that each and every patient is charged correctly. I am very excited to be a part of the great staff here at Advanced Vision and look forward to helping with any questions or concerns regarding your account.
